Oxfam and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is partnering with CRUDAN and CEPAD to implement an eight (8) months project with a view to establishing an integrated local but comprehensive approach to community development planning leveraging on Adamawa State Citizens Engagement and Participatory Planning (CEPP) Policy.

Since its inception, the project have engaged with stakeholders both at the state and Local government level, established development coordination committees at the state as well as the LGA levels (SDCC and LGDCC), strengthened the capacity of Michika LGA legislative council on Adamawa LGA CEPP policy, LGA legal frameworks, budgeting process, as well as LGA financial management frameworks etc., stakeholders’ engagement and dialogue workshop and community mobilization and sensitization have been conducted.

The project aims at setting communities on the path of sustainable development with the Community members driving the process in partnership with relevant government and non-governmental structures in Michika LGA. The general objective of the project is to increase citizens participation in governance and strengthen social cohesion through inclusive and participatory community development planning across 16 wards of Michika LGA in Adamawa State.  The specific objectives of the project include:

  1. To improve participatory engagement and planning between local communities and government stakeholders towards improved socio-economic outcomes of communities. 

2. To strengthen social cohesion through capacity building of stakeholders on inclusive planning, implementation, and monitoring of community development plans.
