Talent Lab Limited – Our client, Solina Group is an indigenous consulting firm that works to accelerate positive health, social and economic reforms through high-quality program design and implementation, capacity building, implementation science research and knowledge generation, as well as agenda-setting and stakeholder convening across human development sectors.

Solina is currently supporting the Government of Nigeria specifically the National Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) with innovations aimed at improving the quality of polio campaigns in Nigeria. Hence, they are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Polio Consultant

Description and Objectives

  • The Polio Consultant will provide technical assistance to the National Emergency Operating Centre (EOC) and select priority states with planning, coordination, and implementation of quality polio campaigns as well as strengthening the project management capacity of national and state teams through providing data analytics and data management support to state polio teams, partners, and other stakeholders.

Technical Responsibilities
Support polio teams of selected states to plan and coordinate the polio outbreak response:

  • Support the state team to track preparedness for campaigns using the campaign preparedness checklist and pre-campaign dashboard, and track that planned activities are completed on time.
  • Support the country teams to ensure campaign microplans and budgets are developed on time, and review these for completeness, coherence, and accuracy.
  • Provide meeting facilitation support for daily and weekly campaign implementation meetings to review deliverables. This will be done at EOCs where available, State Primary Health Care Board/Agency (SPHCMB/A) or at other appropriate locations.

​​​​​​​Provide data analytics and data management support:

  • Analyze pre-campaign dashboard data to determine state’s level of campaign preparedness, identify delayed activities and bottlenecks.
  • Analyze daily vaccination and supervision data during campaigns. Key metrics to analyze include
    • Daily vaccine coverage rates against set target
    • Number of missed communities and households
    • Vaccine usage and wastage rates by location
    • Field team supervision reports
    • Vaccine hesitancy rates
    • Social mobilization data, and others as appropriate for the content

Support documentation of polio outbreak response activities:

  • The preparation of technical documents, briefing notes, PowerPoint slides, and other documentation and advocacy materials for engagement with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Development of weekly and post-campaign reports
  • Archiving of all polio response documents and reports for easy access by all state polio stakeholders

Strengthen the capacity of state polio teams:

  • Strengthen the capacity of the state polio team through on-the-job training approach where required, and also build the capacity of a SPHCMB/A designated staff to provide polio campaign project management support

Educational Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics or related fields. A Masters’ degree is an added advantage;
  • Minimum of 5 – 10 years working experience with previous experience in polio campaigns and implementation;
  • Experience and knowledge of data collection, analysis and reporting;
  • Possess strong communication (oral and written) and report writing skills;
  • Fluency in the local dialects of the geographic region is an added advantage;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).
