Terms Of Reference To Engage Adhoc Volunteers For Female Food Hero At Oxfam

Oxfam

General overview of the Female Food Hero Award:  The Female Food Hero Award is an award ceremony that Oxfam has funded yearly in the past (yearly till 2016). The activity is a TAP initiative, and it is celebrated in all countries implementing the project.

The activity identifies, recognizes, and celebrates the accomplishments of female farmers in Nigeria. It also creates a platform for rural farmers to interface and interact with high-level policymakers and stakeholders. The award ceremony creates a public platform for rural female farmers and advocates to physically meet with their policymakers and discuss their wants needs and demands.

Applications for the award are received through the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Women Affairs, Oxfam projects across Nigeria, Female Food Hero Alumni, social media, Partners, CSOs, and another network of female farmers across Nigeria.

Because of the wide outreach of the project, the Female Food Hero Award usually receives an overwhelming number of applications; approximately 2500 applications were received the last time this activity was conducted, this year we forecast to receive a minimum of 5000 application forms.

These applications need to be reviewed and graded individually after which the 12 finalists are selected.

The project requires support in sorting and grading submitted applications. Based on the existing backdrop, I request approval to engage 10 -15 ad hoc volunteers for not less than 5 days for reviewing, grading, and sorting these forms (The final number of volunteers and days of work will be dependent on the number of application forms received).

Deliverables:

  • To sort, review, and grade the FFH nomination forms.
  • To input the data on the FFH Nomination forms into a database that will be provided.
  • To produce the top 12 finalists after scoring.
  • To provide a detailed report of the activity showing data disaggregated by age, value chain, region, land ownership, etc.

Selection Criteria

  • First degree.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience in data management.
  • Must own a functional laptop.
  • Must live within FCT.
