WHO ARE WE
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We strive for an equal world where every child can reach their full potential, and every girl can choose their own future. For more than 85 years, we’ve been building powerful partnerships to protect children’s rights and fight inequality. We work with children, local communities, partners, and supporters to create lasting change.
Plan International Nigeria is part of the global federation of Plan International and was registered as a National Organization in 2014 in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission under the Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1990. Plan International Nigeria is a prospective member of the Members Assembly of the Plan Federation.
Plan International Nigeria has been working across 19 states in Nigeria, and our mission is to create a just world that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. Plan International Nigeria outlines its bold purpose of ensuring “All Girls Standing Strong Creating Global Change” in line with Plan International’s Global Strategy through the Nigeria Country Strategy (FY2024-2028). We will commit ourselves to ensuring that “Girls are empowered to take action and drive change”. We will achieve this through advancing rights, equality and justice for all girls and young women in Nigeria through strategic, evidence-based interventions and gender transformative programmes. We will ensure that 20 million girls and young women, primarily from poor and disadvantaged communities, will learn, lead, decide, and thrive.
In Nigeria, our key areas of work include ensuring children continue their education in safety; reducing maternal and child mortality among marginalized and vulnerable women and girls; nutritional support for mothers and young children; protecting children from violence; empowering young people to stand up for their rights and call for accountability from leaders.
